Spectacular Haptosquilla

This little 1.9 cm beauty with the spectacular stripes showed up in a polyp-covered rock from Tonga or Fiji. According to Dr Roy Caldwell, it is possibly an undescribed species of Haptosquilla. The owner of the mantis kindly shipped it over to the University of California for more detailed analysis. This just goes to show that for mantis shrimp keepers, there's always the thrilling possibility of discovering some little biological treasure hidden away in the deep recesses of their tanks.

More info on the way, I hope.
