Profile of a mantis shrimp as
it ponders the mysteries of the universe, and
that nosy diver that keeps swimming too close.
Unlike the more common members of the
Gonodactyloidea, Odontodactylus and
related genera have teeth in the dactyl segments
of their raptorial appendages, as well as more
"rounded" eyes when seen from the top.
This particular species is commonly known as the
clown or harlequin mantis shrimp in the marine
trade. |
