Returning foragers are famous for their single-mindedness. I have on occassion (during my more sadistic moments) lifted burdened ants by the leaf fragments, and the ants kept holding onto their loads no matter how long I waved them in the air.
In this beautifully-photographed image, a forager balances her way across upraised yellow stalks (lichen? fern?) while carrying a leaf fragment that is almost too symmetrical to be believed. Another ant watches in the foreground, probably in disbelief.
